What is the difference between sharing and duplicating a LOTO procedure?
Smart Safety Pro has two options for efficiently sharing your procedures for similar pieces of equipment, depending on your needs.
Each piece of equipment can only have one active procedure at a time in the Smart Safety Pro system.
Sharing procedures is for pieces of equipment that can share the same images and energy sources. The share button is only available after a procedure is approved, and when you share a procedure with other piece of equipment, a copy of the approved procedure is made for each piece of equipment. A procedure can be shared with one procedure, or every remaining piece of equipment in your system that has not yet had a procedure made for it, all at the same time. These copies are linked to the procedure which was copied so that you can either:
- keep them linked and unapproving, editing, and reapproving the main procedure will automatically unapprove, edit, and reapprove all the copied procedures to easily keep procedures consistent and up to date
- unapprove a copy on its own, which will allow you to use the copied procedure and images as a starting point for any necessary fine tuning edits. This procedure will no longer be part of the automatic updates if the main procedure is unapproved and edited in the future.
Duplicating procedures is for pieces of equipment that have similar energy sources and need distinct images. The duplicate button is available at any time and from any status from the procedure screen. When you duplicate a procedure, the energy sources on the procedure will be copied to a new procedure and you can then associate it to a single piece of equipment, add images, and make any changes to the energy sources, if necessary. This method is useful as a starting point for writing procedures where the core energy sources are similar, but additional details require unique procedures. Duplicated procedures are copied as stand alone procedures and not linked in any way.
